No Vote Cast – Growing Voter Dissatisfaction
Where a candidate is running unopposed, the best measure of how the voters feel about the candidate is what percentage of the total vote is actually cast for the candidate. The balance represents people who voted, but chose not to cast a ballot for the unopposed candidate.
It is even more telling to compare these percentages with the previous election.
The table below shows that far more voters withheld their votes from unopposed candidates on August 3, than in the same election four years ago. This is a trend that should make the growing voter discontent abundantly clear to the Republican leadership in our County. Let’s hope they “get it”.
